Don’t mind my back-blogging!
Thursday (June 14) we took a hellish bus ride to Mostar and the waterfalls in Kravice. A 3-hour bus ride at 9am brought us to a pristine fantasy-like city that also happened to be over 90 degrees. Mostar is this bright white castle-like village that is similar to an MC Escher drawing with bridges tucking into other bridges and over a turquoise river.
Mostar’s significance lays in the medieval bridge that was shot down during the Bosnian War. For no reason the bridge and villages history were destroyed with just a few shots. The bridge was rebuilt after the war and stands as a memorial to the town building up from the devastation. I wish we spent some more time in Mostar but with the heat and the amount of tourists, I was grateful to get back on the bus…
Only to end up seeing the most amazing waterfalls called Kravice. After sweating through some layers of clothes, the waterfalls looked like Shangri-la. We stayed and had a drink while listening to the water crashing into a turquoise pool of water.
An exhausting day but beautiful.
