Today the class took the three hour journey to Srebrenica from Sarajevo. The bus trip took us through one of the most idealic countryside in Europe. Farmers were everywhere working with tools… Scythes, hoes, wooden rakes..instruments not seen in the U.S. for many decades. The mountain terrain is green and fertile, spotted with farms, sheep, hand stacked hay shaped like Hershey’s kisses.
In the middle of a lovely meadow lies the memorial dedicated to the victims of the Bosnian genocide in Srebrenica. The memorial is a tasteful and moving tribute to the fallen victims.
